Frequently Asked Questions
What gear do you use?
I am a Nikon guy. I started with an old Pentax and switched to Nikons many years ago. I like to tell people that the gear really is less important it is knowing how to use it.
I now shoot with a full frame nikon D810. I have a variety of lenses depending on need and where I am traveling to. My walkabout all around lens is the Nikon 28-300 zoom. I love my wide angle Nikon 17-35 2.8. I always carry a fast prime for low light like the 50mm 1.8. For wildlife I use the Sigma DG 150-500.
How many countries have you been to?
Just like the camera question, it really is not that important to me. I LOVE traveling and photography, so counting countries is not that important. the experiences, the images, and stories are. To truly get this quality of work, I find that I need to immerse myself in a culture for a while. So, I tend to travel very slow, stay in places longer, and really absorb the place and culture.
So, I have been to about 70 countries overall, but not all of them for an extended time, or enough time to really count. I travel every year and will never stop so follow along on the journey.
Do you teach?
I do teach. I offer private lessons in my DC studio that is catered to the specific needs and level of the student. Please use the contact page to send me a message if you are interested.
During the Fall I also have group classes at UDC, part of their extended education program. This is a 6 week course that meets once a week and helps people become better photographers.

If there are any other issues I am always available to discuss and help and if I am at fault I will gladly replace the image.
How can I keep up with your new work?
I travel every year for 3 months, and the best way to keep in touch is to sign up for my newsletter, follow me on instagram, and on facebook. I post new images there first, as I am traveling, you can get an idea of what I am seeing and doing.
